Sustanon 250 Summary:

Sustanon 250 is an injectable formula containing 4 different forms of testosterone, all differing only in their rates of release. The forms include: Testosterone propionate, phenylpropionate, isocaproate and decanoate, with an overall half-life of 16.5 days. Recommended athletic or recreational dosing ranges from 250 to 2000 milligrams weekly, usually during periods of mass gain. 

Chemistry and composition

Sustanon is the brand name given to a formula which contains a number of different versions of testosterone. Each testosterone has a different ester attached to it, which acts to control its rate of release and their effect on the body. 

These versions include:

• Testosterone propionate (36mg) - half-life of 4-5 days
• Testosterone phenylpropionate (72mg) - half-life of 4-5 days
• Testosterone isocaproate (27mg) - half-life of 8-10 days
• Testosterone decanoate (120mg) - half-life of 8-10 days

From a chemical standpoint, the way each ingredient is processed is the same. The only difference between each ingredient is the rate at which it’s processed. This combination exists because it is supposed to cause multiple peaks of testosterone in the body with only a once-weekly, infrequent injection. 

Doses

Sustanon dosing will always be dependent on factors, such as prior experience with anabolics, gender and the users’ goals. Frequently cited guidelines include:

Males:

• Beginners - 250-500 milligrams per week
• Intermediates - 500 milligrams per week
• Advanced - 1000-2000 milligrams per week

Females:

• Beginners - Use not recommended 
• Intermediates - Use not recommended 
• Advanced - Use not recommended 

These doses would normally be administered on a once weekly basis, due to the relatively long-lasting effect of the mixture and is commonly administered through intramuscular injection, in popular sites, such as the buttocks, where the gluteal muscles are located, and the side shoulder, where the lateral deltoid is. However, care should be taken to rotate these sites, in order to reduce the odds of site infection or soreness. 

Side effects 

There are a number of side effects, both direct and indirect, associated with the many different uses of anabolics. These include effects caused by secondary processing (indirect) and by the high levels of testosterone in the body (direct). 

Direct side effects 

These can include:

• Suppression of endogenous testosterone 
• Heart enlargement and increased LDL cholesterol and blood vessel stiffness
• Mild hepatic strain, which could lead to liver damage over time

Indirect side effects

These can include:

• High estrogen levels - causing bloating, fat gain, and high blood pressure
• High DHT levels and androgenic effects - causing oily skin and acne, balding, or virilizing effects in women
